Planet in Peril

I watch Anderson Cooper reporting world news every time when I am running on the treadmill. Today in a short programme called Planet in Peril it was showed that some Chinese is storing up a mountain of turtles in a room which are waiting to be served on the dinning table. The habit of eating all kinds of things is not a news to Chinese culture but it is still horrifying to see many exotic animals are maltreated like that.

Being maltreated are not only limited to animals, but human too. Non-stop daily stories, so-called exclusive videos showing monks being tortured publicly, unclaimed corpses left in a pond somewhere, that's real brutality. AC is specially attached to tragedies even though his reports are detached to reveal the truth to audience.

Our world is in peril. Despite the never resolvable issues in the Middle East that are recalled from the book I'm currently reading, conflict in Burma is never going to have an easy ending. Monks are martyred because of their faith and hope. It is simply a hope for better basic life. What's the wrong to voice out this want? It's convenient for people to ask where is God and again, Mad Albright's perfect answer is deep in my mind, it strengthens my faith all the way.

I do like to read his book to see what insight AC got from the frontline of catastrophes.
