Blessed are those who are poor, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
It does not mean we are going to empty our wallet so as to be poor. The meaning of this is to humble our heart, to feel the poverty in our heart. Because only by this, our heart can be refilled of thankfulness by grace.
Amazed that the Beatitudes was sung consecutively for two weeks.
Discussed with a friend who asked me where and who is God whom I believe in, and what is the evidence of His existence.
I am not wise enough to give a good answer, so I could only say we cannot ask for a factual proof to prove the truth. It is difficult to explain why followers believe, none of us see the face of God, nor can we certify His existence. Who see and believe are great, but blessed are those who do not see but still believe. That is what Jesus told Thomas after his resurrection and it can be referred to the Beatitudes.
Maybe I can give a better answer after I've studied theology.

I know I am not in any position to give any comment, but it is really a big decision. Think twice...
No one really see the sun. We can only feel the heat and sunshine but we know the sun is there. No one even see God but we can feel His love, peace, justice and rightousness. We know God is there...bring good news to the poor, set the captives free, let the blind see and give us everlasting life.
